Review Policy
Tour Rated exists to give golfers honest, firsthand information about golf instructors. Every decision about what gets published — and what doesn't — comes back to one question: does this help a golfer decide?
What makes a valid review
To be published, a review must:
- Be based on a real lesson or instructional session with the coach being reviewed
- Be written by the person who took the lesson
- Come from a verified email address
- Not have been submitted in exchange for any compensation or incentive
Reviews of a coach's YouTube videos, social media presence, or reputation — without a real lesson — are not valid on this platform.
What we remove
We remove reviews that contain:
Personal information — a coach's home address, personal phone number, or details about family members. If a review is otherwise valid, we'll edit out the personal information and publish the rest.
Threats or harassment — anything that could be reasonably interpreted as a physical threat or a call to harass someone.
Unsupported factual claims — statements alleging a coach committed a crime, engaged in fraud, or has a specific professional sanction, unless that information is verifiable from public record. We remove the specific claim, not the whole review.
Discriminatory language — attacks on a coach based on race, gender, age, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, or disability.
Fake or coordinated reviews — reviews from accounts that appear connected to the coach being reviewed, or multiple reviews submitted together in an obvious pattern.
Off-topic content only — if a review contains nothing about the instruction and only covers the facility, membership pricing, or other factors unrelated to the coach, we'll decline to publish and invite the reviewer to resubmit.
What we don't remove
We do not remove reviews simply because a coach disagrees with them, finds them unfair, or rates them poorly. A negative but honest review is this platform working as intended.
Coaches with claimed profiles can post a public response to any review. That's the right tool for addressing a review they believe is missing context.
How we edit reviews
We don't edit reviews to improve grammar or change their meaning. The only edits we make are removing personal information, redacting a specific unsupported factual claim while preserving the rest, or correcting a coach's name if it was misspelled in a way that caused the review to appear on the wrong profile. Every edit is logged internally.
